Vocation Promotion Commission

Our commission in Ireland for promoting vocations seeks to keep alive the idea in the minds of women of all ages the call to religious as a real and valuable life choice in today’s world.

We do this by continuing to invite women to consider the Ursuline way of life through come and see days and afternoons, giving talks in schools and parishes, preparing and distributing promotion materials, and inviting sisters and others to pray for vocations.

Each year Ursuline schools are visited and students are offered a session entitled “call” using prayer, dance, symbol and music which is one way of inviting young women making decisions in their personal life to consider religious life as a positive choice.

The commission members meet with vocation promotion personnel from other congregations both at local and national level and engage in inter-congregational initiatives around Ireland which include: stands at Careers fairs, National Ploughing Championships and other significant national events; vocations office in Knock; National discernment programme – Explore Away; and the National Vocations Office – see www.vocationsireland.com
