Ursulines in Ireland

Ursulines in IrelandIreland

The Ursulines came to Cork in 1771, brought by Nano Nagle who later founded the Presentation Sisters. The first Irish Ursulines established schools and have been involved in education in Ireland ever since.

Today Ursulines work in education, special needs education, parish, family ministry, prayer ministry, spirituality, counselling, health care, and with homeless people ... and are found in:

  • Cork - Blackrock - Douglas/Frankfield - Meadowgrove
  • Sligo - Temple Street - Lough Gill.
  • Waterford - Ballytruckle - St. Anne's - Shannon Drive
  • Dublin - Cabinteely - Sandyford - Booterstown
  • Thurles
  • Shannonbridge

Irish Ursulines value the witness of Saint Angela in contemporary times and identify qualities in her which speak to today's Ireland. Consider our reflective 'litany' Angela, Woman for Ireland.
