Karibu!
Fáilte! Welcome
to the Ursuline Fund for Kenya!
We
Ursuline Sisters have learned to count a
lot on the good will, prayer and material
support of friends to sustain our work in
Kenya over the long term.
A
traditional proverb of East Africa states:
Akiba haiozi! Which, translated, states:
Reserves don’t decay. Practical help by
friends today creates such reserves for
tomorrow.

Foresight
now is truly vital for the coming years,
when the remaining sisters from Ireland
will have to leave Kenya for good. This
necessary departure will happen for many
reasons, including advancing years. It will
bring sadness, for Kenya has been home to
Ursulines from Ireland for half a century.
However, we are confident that God is at
work today, as surely as yesterday. And
as the clock of change ticks on, we want
to be as realistic as we can about our future
in Kenya.
The
Ursuline Fund for Kenya has as its goal
ongoing, long-term support of our Kenyan
sisters and the work they undertake and
continue in their homeland.
Already the sisters have assumed key leadership
roles in the Gospel mission in Kenya. They
will continue to focus on fostering empowerment
of their own people, in the areas of spiritual,
physical and intellectual wellbeing. They
will continue to listen and respond in a
particular way to God’s voice in the call
of the poor.
Our
own Gaelic tradition gives a pithy reminder
of the simple and salutary wisdom of changing
fortunes:
Ní
bhíonn uasal ná íseal
ach thuas seal agus thíos seal.
There’s neither noble nor servant: only
high a while and low a while.

you like to help?

on generosity:
Go méadai Dia do stór!
May
God multiply your store/reserves!
