Kitui: Tungutu – Saint Ursula’s

Saint Ursula’s community is located in Kitui Central, Kitui County, Kenya. Saint Ursula’s opened in 1986. The first Sisters in this community served at Tungutu girls Secondary School, which today is known as St. Ursula’s Girls Secondary School. The sisters help out in a nearby primary school, Ithookwe Primary School. They are also involved in teaching Catechism and Pastoral classes in the surrounding schools, St. Ursula’s Secondary School, St. Charles Lwanga Secondary School, and Engineer Ngilu Secondary School.

The Sisters take Holy Communion to the sick and elderly during the home visitations and organize the Sacrament of Confession for them when the need arises. The sisters also assist in giving out Holy Communion in the local church on Fridays and Sundays.

Currently, there are three sisters in the community who all work in the Medical field. One sister offers services to the outpatients, another works among the TB/HIV co-infected patients in the main hospital and another offers medical services in the dispensary.

It is with the help of God that we have come this far and we continue asking for His blessings as we continue serving His people.
