Remembering our Irish roots

Today, 24th June in 1777 Nano Nagle made her profession of religious vows in Cove Lane, Cork (Parish of Saint Finarr’s South) and became the first Superior of the newly founded Institute – The Presentation Sisters of the Blessed Virgin Mary (PBVM).   As Ursuline Sisters our Irish roots are with Nano Nagle who invited the Ursulines to come from Paris to join with her in the education of the poor in Cork in 1771.  The first four Irish Ursulines went from Cork to Paris to make their novitiate and then returned to make the Ursuline foundation in the building in C0ve Lane (now Douglas Street) in Cork city.

Let us together give thanks for the inspiration and courage of Nano Nagle
