Recently as I waited for a friend, I saw a labyrinth nearby and decided to investigate. I wonder if you ever walked a labyrinth; let me share my experience.
Well, it taught me a very simple lesson; there were moments when I was making progress; then suddenly, I was doubling back on myself, retracing my steps, obviously wasting my time and getting nowhere. Frustrating, I was stuck! Yet, I never lost sight of the centre, but was convinced I would never reach it!
In truth, there was only one reality; simply to keep moving – keep my feet on the cold floor and try to overcome moments of panic and paralysing inability to face the challenge. Failure loomed!
But eventually courage! The message of the labyrinth became clear. It was simple, yet profound:
It is that I must walk in faith and keep going through the ups and downs of life and deepen my faith and trust.
That is such a challenge when my world collapses all around me and I can do no more than put one foot in front of the another in order to cope. What a commitment!
But my heart knows that without the support and presence of Christ, the journey is impossible.
Can you identify with my labyrinthine experience?
