Joy

There are two verses in St. John’s Gospel Chapter 15 (10-12)  that are especially dear to my heart. Let me quote them for you: “If you keep my commandments you will remain in my love, just as I have kept the father’s commandments and remain in his love. I have told you this so that my own joy may be in you and your joy complete”.

Joy is on-going and must be unconfined. The moment constraints are imposed, joy ceases.

There is a season for everything- the loss of a beloved one, unconfined sorrow in the presence of those we love, unconfined joy. Most of life carries constraints, that’s the way things are. But there are days, times when we leave our confinement and taste pure joy.

Why not play with good memories of the times when your heart was joy-filled. If anything constrains you, acknowledge it and let it go.

Unconfined God, Lover of joy and freedom, plunge us deep into the heart of mystery. Remove the shackles of fear and ignorance. Free us to live in Your spirit of enthusiasm and joy and we will give You full glory and praise.
